We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our Group Tax team within A.S. Watson Group, supporting our business units across Europe, including the likes of Superdrug, Marionnaud, Kruidvat and many more. The Tax team’s primary role is to support and advise A.S. Watson Group as well as our European Business Units (BUs) with a diverse portfolio of tax advisory, compliance, risk management and planning matters connected to corporation tax, withholding tax, and other taxes. You will be part of the European Tax Team reporting to the A.S. Watson Group Tax Director (Europe), also working with CK Hutchison Tax team members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Business partnering with BUs, advising them on meeting their tax compliance and reporting obligations, and maintaining tax rate and cash tax efficiencies
  • Ensuring the tax effectiveness of existing or proposed business transactions to achieve tax cost efficiencies where possible
  • Advising on tax authority audits and inspections with the Group Tax Director (Europe) and local BUs
  • Review, planning and implementation of designated projects (e.g. mergers and acquisitions, business disposals, group reorganisations and capital flows)
  • Implementing and monitoring of Group Tax Policies and Procedures and Tax Control Frameworks
  • Advising BUs on the pricing of transactions in line with OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and supporting documentation
  • Evaluating new tax laws and practices, and OCED tax developments, together with impact assessment on the Group 
  • Coordinating with CK Hutchison Group and BUs re group level reporting requirements (e.g. CbCR, DAC 6 and interest restrictions)
  • Reviewing BU draft CIT returns and cash tax forecasts
  • You will forge positive business relationships with external advisors, lawyers, auditors, external advisors, tax authorities and internal business partners at all levels
  • This role will involve travel within Europe (once COVID restrictions are eased)

What we look for:

  • Degree holder, ideally with around 4 or more years’ experience in International Tax (including cross border advisory) with Big 4 accountancy firm or respected international Law Firm
  • FMCG/retail experience desired but not essential
  • Fluency in English
  • Conversational level French is essential 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written, in a multicultural environment where various stakeholders are using English as a second language
  • Proficient PC skills
  • Team player and self-starter with a positive outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, research and analytical skills
  • Strong project management and execution skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and ready to take on responsibilities with minimal supervision
