Aim of the role

The A.S. Watson Big Data Enablement Accelerator program aims at building a cloud-based application layer that bridges our Enterprise Data Platform to the development of data-driven and AI-based applications, and that integrates them properly with the enterprise operations and IT architecture.

The scope of the A.S. Watson Big Data Enablement Accelerator includes all activities necessary to build streamlined processes and cloud-based software components that serve the following purposes:

  1. Create data marts for our Big Data Analytics
  2. Support Data Science discovery activities with appropriate computational environments and proper access to data
  3. Operationalize Data Science insights by means of micro-services with production-grade performance

The operational model of the BDEA envisages the development of a set of internal products and the provisioning of services in well-defined service catalogs.

Expected Responsibilities

  • Provide directions to projects stakeholders on the usage of BDEA product features to address projects’ use cases
  • Gather requirements from projects stakeholders in order to understand features gaps of BDEA products to address projects’ use cases
  • Help to shape BDEA service catalogs, defining new services and engagement models
  • Write accurate and effective documentation
  • Helps to define the development plan for the implementation of the BDEA products' features
  • Performs smoke testing on UX features of BDEA product, assuring that are product behavior is compliant with requirements
  • Support the development team ensuring that digital deliverables meet business requirements

Required Skills

  • University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Engineering or Economy disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at different kind of hierarchy levels
  • Fluent English language skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving attitude, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Data Science, Big Data and Analytics concepts
  • Understanding of cloud computing paradigms
  • Hand-on experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of MS Azure platform
  • Knowledge of UML
  • Understanding of QA methodologies and processes
  • Understanding of cloud computing paradigms
  • Understanding of agile software development process
